Teachsport Launches in the South West
Physical education teacher brings respected organisation to primary schools to the South West
Teachsport supports primary schools by delivering National Curriculum PE, team teaching/teacher training, extra-curricular sports activities, cross curricular leadership courses, holiday academies and other programmes.
Teachsport is a business associate of the Association for Physical Education and over the last 20 years has become well respected within the world of education. Teachsport was founded in 1999 and Alex Windmill, the director of Teachsport South West and a qualified physical education teacher, has started to support schools in the Bristol, Bath and surrounding areas. “We aim to support schools and teachers in achieving and maintaining outstanding physical education and school sport provision.”
“We work with primary schools to enhance their sports programmes, up skill teachers and provide opportunities for pupils to enjoy and experience varied and exciting sports and activities. Teachsport South West can tailor teacher training and mentoring to individual schools, offer alternative sports and activities as extra-curricular clubs and provide programmes for selected students like our Primary Leadership course.”
Extending Teachsport South West further, Alex also operates Buzzers Academies. These are school holiday sports programmes, offering active, educational childcare. “We try to fit as many sports and activities into each day but make every day different and enjoyable for the children that attend. There will be team and individual games, archery, arts and crafts and much more.”
Teachsport South West aims to make a difference to young people’s lives through physical education, school sport and physical activity. It also operates opportunities for employment and development for those looking to work in the field.
“We are very excited for the future and for the potential of what both Teachsport South West and Buzzers Academies have to offer local communities. We urge primary schools to contact us if they think we can support them with physical education in any way.
