University Literary Club

University Literary Club

Established in 1889 as the Literary and Philosophic Club, the University Literary Club is housed within a magnificent Georgian building in Berkeley Square, at the top of Park Street.

These days, known as UniLit, not only is it a gentlemen’s club, it is also a superb wedding venue.

Boasting elegant rooms, designed in the late eighteenth century by Thomas Paty (one of Bristol’s more prominent Architect-Masons), it is easy to see why The University and Literary Club is one of Bristol’s most stunning wedding venues.

Holders of a Civil Ceremony Licence, UniLit offer a personal and flexible service to ensure you have the wedding of your dreams. When you decide to choose UniLit as your venue, you will be put in touch with a dedicated wedding coordinator, who will help you with every aspect of your wedding – from orders of service to seating plans and more. In fact, they provide you with:

  • White linen napkins and tablecloths
  • Use of the full PA system in the Cabot suite
  • A choice of round or square cake stands and knife
  • Air-conditioning in the Cabot suite and both bars

The University Literary Club can also cater for your wine and food requirements. They have an extensive wine list (click here) together with a wide variety of menus, from traditional to buffet. The chef is also happy to discuss any special requirements or ideas you might have.

Prices start from just £815 on weekdays, and can seat up to 72 people for a ceremony and up to 120 people for an informal buffet. You can find out more about rates here.

Conscious of the historic qualities of its premises, the UniLit extends a warm welcome and professional service to all members, guests and visitors.
