Bump to Cradle
Bump to Cradle was founded by Dr Miriam Walsh, following her experience during pregnancy and the early postnatal period when she became a mother to Lucia. Coupled with her experience as a GP, and her experience of the consequences of average antenatal education, she started Bump to Cradle to help empower parents- to-be and to help them feel supported, well informed and prepared for the special and exciting time that lies before them.
Bump to Cradle believes that classes should be fun and sociable, whilst still being informative and delivering facts – from the experts. They offer a comprehensive course, packed with up-to-date balanced information.
Pregnancy, labour and those first few months with a newborn, can be angst ridden, challenging and also daunting at times, but Bump to Cradle aim to lessen these negative feelings to ensure you feel as confident and prepared as can be.
A typical Bump to Cradle course lasts for six weeks, with classes every Wednesday from 6.30-9pm over a 6-week period, with every couple taking home course materials. There is also an 8 week post-natal reunion.
The team at Bump to Cradle all feel passionately about improving antenatal education, with as much focus on the postnatal period and how to look after your baby as there is on the later stages of pregnancy and your labour. They deliver non-judgemental information to parents to be and understand that pregnancy, labour and the prospect of having a newborn baby to look after can be worrying, so they aim to allay your fears of the unknown, whilst at the same time being realistic about the future.
You will be given the opportunity to meet other mums and dads to be who are due around a similar time, which can form the start of a fantastic local support network for you. They also feel very strongly that Dads to be play a huge role in the newborn baby’s life and so they encourage partners to most of the sessions.
